Crista Galvin-Cox is a registered dietitian, medical nutrition therapist and health educator. She works individually and in groups with Virginia Women’s Center patients, to help women form a healthy relationship with food and their minds and bodies. Crista joined Virginia Women's Center in 2008.
Crista counsels women of all ages. She provides instruction on weight issues, body image, nutrition during all stages of pregnancy, diabetes, and healthy eating for cardiac patients.
Crista graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition. She completed a Dietetic Internship with the Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, Texas. She received a Master of Science in Nutrition Education from Finch University/Chicago Medical School in Chicago, Illinois.
Crista is a member of the American Dietetic Association and its affiliated Diabetes Care and Education and Women's Health dietetic practice groups. She is also a member of the Virginia Dietetic Association where she has served on the Board of Directors. Crista has certificates in training for adult weight management as well as childhood and adolescent weight management. She is also a certified Breast Feeding Educator. Crista has contributed nutrition articles to several newspapers and publications.
In her spare time, Crista enjoys traveling with her husband, Casey and two daughters, Monica and Lorin. She also likes to be active outdoors with her family and to play tennis.
