Carol J. Tibbals, M.S.M., C.N.M., W.H.N.P.

Carol J. Tibbals, M.S.N, C.N.M., is a board-certified women’s health nurse practitioner and a certified nurse midwife. She earned her degree as a registered nurse from Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie, New York. She studied midwifery at Frontier School of Nurse-Midwifery and graduated in 1995. In 2000, Carol earned a Master of Science in midwifery. She joined Virginia Women’s Center in 1999.

As a certified nurse midwife, Carol works with the physicians and staff at Virginia Women's Center to provide women with comprehensive health care. She was prepared through a formal course of academic and clinical study to deliver comprehensive health care to women throughout their life span. She provides reproductive, obstetric and gynecologic health care and assists women in the safe delivery of their babies.

Carol is certified by the American College of Nurse-Midwives Certification Council and is also a certified childbirth educator and bereavement counselor. She has 20 years of clinical experience in labor and delivery and has attended over 1,000 births as a certified nurse midwife.

In her spare time, Carol enjoys staying active with golf; to relax, she makes clothes for her grandson. She also reads and quilts. In some community events around town, Carol takes on the identity of “Rainbow.” Every spring, Carol co-sponsors a charity golf tournament to raise money for breast cancer research.
